Job Description Overview BigBear.ai is seeking Cybersecurity Data Scientist to support multiple research-oriented special projects that will provide technical support and innovation to full spectrum cyber operations and application of BigBear.ai’s Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence platform capabilities to our customer’s technical requirements. This position is based out of Columbia, MD with the opportunity for partial remote work. The BigBear Cyber Innovations Laboratory performs research and development to create advanced tools to support Cyber Network Operations (CNO), cybersecurity engineering, and data analytics and artificial intelligence backed systems. The role of a Cybersecurity Data Scientist is very dynamic, ranging from leading short and long-term research projects, contributing to product improvements, and developing solution architectures to address technical challenges. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a collaborative environment and capable of providing innovative thought leadership, mentoring, and problem solving across a diverse range of technologies that include data source identification and acquisition, exploratory data analysis, ETL, machine learning, artificial intelligence, data visualization. Examples of these projects might include:
Developing prototype data driven solutions to address defensive cyber operations, cybersecurity, and Zero Trust approach Automation of reverse engineering and vulnerability analysis of diverse platforms, embedded firmware, and devices Modeling/Simulation and digital twin technology of space-based systems for cyber resiliency Development of cyber operational platforms designed to operate on a variety of platforms at the ‘tactical edge’ Automation of binary analysis and reverse engineering of malware samples Evaluation of commercially available tools and technology for relevance to customer mission requirements Application of BigBear.ai Observe/Orient/Dominate platform capabilities to cyber related challenges What you will do Work closely with members of our Innovation Lab Data Science team and use state-of-the-art machine learning tools to improve models and bring products to market based on your research that solve high priority cyber challenges. Lead and contribute to research in new domains, learning approaches, projects on rare and emerging problems, or add new features to existing product lines. Bring an inquisitive mindset and continuous learning mentality with the ability to find and apply advances in the field through reading papers and attending conferences. Apply your knowledge and experience with machine learning and AI to directly impact Cyber challenges and transition findings and prototypes to BigBear.ai’s products and service offerings. Collaborate with stakeholders to define research objectives, goals, and requirements. Develop research hypothesis and define methodology to prove or disprove. Perform research, capture & analyze data, and document the results. Develop prototypes and proofs-of-concept of capabilities, document and demonstrate to stakeholders. Evaluate existing products and systems from commercial and open-source as potential solutions. Apply data science, ML/AI, analytical techniques to provide decision making support to cybersecurity professionals and analysts. Work in an Agile development environment Contribute to plans and road-maps to transfer research results into operational capabilities, including MVP planning, architectural documents, interfaces, and software designs. Contribute as a technical SME to Growth and Business Development activities, including to white papers, proposal solutioning, and capability demonstrations. What you need to have A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience crafting and experimenting with cyber-focused artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques Master’s degree in a qualified engineering field from an accredited college or university Experience working with cybersecurity related data sources Experience in rapid prototyping and quick experimentation Ability to write code that others can understand, adopt, and extend Fluent with Python frameworks such as TensorFlow, Caffe, and Torch Experience with Python packages such as NumPy, pandas, and PyCUDA. Demonstrated experience with technical leadership Ability to analyze and think quickly in a research-oriented team to generate results Experience with successful Agile techniques Ability to work with and lead a team What we’d like you to have Clearance:

Salary Range:
$80K — $100K
